Youth Theatre of Sanctuary

Stand & Be Counted's Youth Theatre of Sanctuary is a creative group for young sanctuary seekers aged 0-15 and their families.

Join us for fun, friendly and welcoming sessions, using creativity to explore and make live and digital productions. This is the first group of its kind in the UK and invites young people to develop creative skills, learn English and make new friends.

We are currently running this group in Sheffield and will be launching soon in Oldham.

Sessions are free to join, we cover all travel expenses, provide interpreters and enjoy a meal together.

Where: The Montgomery, Sussex Street, Sheffield S1 2LG

When: Every Saturday 10am - 1pm

For more information email our Community Director Firas: firas@sbctheatre.co.uk

Previous Projects:

We love to try out loads of creative skills in our sessions and show them off to the world throughout the year!

Secret Summer (include link to production page and pictures)

We made an immersive audio adventure for people to enjoy In Endcliffe Park. This live-meets-digital production was created in sessions with loads of SBC artists, we created characters and storylines, illustrations for the app and the set in the park, we recorded the chapters in English and Arabic and made our own theme tune!

Together (include link to production page and pictures)

We were the first group of children seeking sanctuary to make and present our work on a UK main stage! Together was performed at The Crucible to over 400 people. We choreographed dance and movement, wrote speeches, poems and song, we devised (very) dramatic scenes and we designed the set, costumes and interactive projection.

What Are The Kids Saying?

“I love the SBC family… I want this to go forever.”

- Nader, 4yrs

“This was the best day of my life!”
