Callout for performer for an r&D

We’re excited to be developing a new project in Sheffield and would like to invite confident actors and performers who fit the below criteria to get in touch with us.

F.E.A.R is a new play written by Rosie MacPherson and directed by Gitika Buttoo. Alina Aleva will play the role of ‘Her’ in the piece and we are now looking for the other role.

Brain: Brain is the physical manifestation of Her’s inner monologue. Quick witted and unafraid to speak their mind, they seemingly control everything about Her (and the show’s sound from their DJ booth) Brain is undoubtedly Her’s closest ally and champion but often enjoys toying with and punishing Her. Brain will push Her to the limits in order to maintain control.

We are looking for an actor that ideally has DJ-ing or live sound skills.

Singing and composing skills not essential but please do mention

Casting: Global majority, any age and gender. Northern accent.

Dates: The research and development phase will be in Sheffield from Monday 21 - Wednesday 30 September, with an evening sharing that night. We would also need the successful artist to be available on Thursday 22 and Friday 23 October for further exploration time and a sharing as part of a festival in Leicester.

Fee: We operate a company day rate, which is £170 per day

Travel/Subsistence: We would encourage local artists to apply, but would make necessary arrangements should someone need relocation allowance for the R&D

Do you fit the criteria? Send us a CV, short letter or video to info@sbctheatre.co.uk by Monday 10 August. We then plan to arrange meetings with people w/c 17 and 24 August 2026.
