Sheffield Lord Mayor Councillor Safiya Saeed introduces our Soap Box Spotlight event at Showroom Cinema, March 2026.
We are looking for a new HR trustee to join Stand & Be Counted
SBC is proud to be the UK’s first Theatre Company of Sanctuary. We are committed to making work with and for people migrating and/or seeking sanctuary, refuge, or asylum. We are an established theatre company with a 16-year history, and a track record of quality provision and artistic progamming.
You can find out more about the work we do on our website: www.sbctheatre.co.uk
It is important to us that our team of trustees is representative of the people we work with; we are therefore particularly interested to hear from people who have lived experience of seeking sanctuary and/or migration or a personal or professional understanding.
We are also particularly interested in someone to join the board with HR experience to support the ongoing development of our work, our people and standing for best practice in the industries we connect.
Who We Are
SBC proudly sits at the intersection of arts, culture and social activism.
Through a rigorous and adventurous programme of co-creation, we provide thousands of people seeking sanctuary with regular creative programmes and events to platform, celebrate and open up new opportunities.
Our ambitious and wide-ranging programme focuses on three key activity strands: ‘Live and Digital Making’ and ‘Performance, Talent Development and Learning’ and ‘Sector Leadership and Advocacy’.
Our long-term programmes include a Youth Theatre of Sanctuary and Soap Box (18+) which take place across Bradford, Sheffield and Oldham. SBC PALs (participant to artist to leader) is our long-term development initiative supporting participants to pursue careers as artists and leaders within our organisation and beyond.
