SHEFFIELD HALLAM PERFORMANCE STUDENTS AND STAND AND BE COUNTED THEATRE SAY ENOUGH!
A cost of living crisis, a climate emergency, a society divided and never ending strikes. The future might feel bleak if we didn't have a wild and radical plan to change our lives forever! Join us for an urgent performance manifesto as we demand better for every single one of us. Expect spoken word, movement, music and social media as we transport you to a better world...
Students explore hopes for a fairer future in a new show to be performed at Sheffield Interchange.
ENOUGH! combines live and digital elements as students explore their hopes for a fairer future in a radical performance manifesto created as part of their ‘Ideas Into Action’ module. The Enough is Enough campaign inspired the young people to take a stand and make a difference, platforming their ideas for a better tomorrow.
The 35 students have been guided through this process by the SBC Theatre team. SBC guest led the module to support the development of the next generation of socially-conscious artists and provide training in their approach to co-creation. Beyond the production of ENOUGH!, students will be offered placements and invited to join SBC’s Soap Box and Youth Theatre of Sanctuary programmes to gain professional insight and experience throughout the academic year.
“We are thrilled to collaborate for a second year with Sheffield Hallam University to present a brand new performance for the Sheffield Interchange. By sharing our methods for co-creation and ambitious, adventurous community-led theatre, we can ensure future artists are well-equipped to continue generating inclusive and welcoming spaces for all. This process encourages students to take charge of their careers and create campaign theatre that brings people together to generate change.”
Rosie MacPherson, Artistic Director, Stand & Be Counted Theatre
“Working on the show has been a lot of fun and Stand & Be Counted Theatre have given us a lot of creative freedom in creating ENOUGH! I got to work on costume and writing material for the performance, which I haven't had much chance to do before, so the whole process has been really exciting and engaging! I'm super proud of what we're creating, everything looks phenomenal, and I can't wait for audiences to experience it!”
